about
the project

The Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) selected Robins & Morton/Cumming/Brownstone as the Construction Manager at Risk to provide preconstruction and construction services for the new $385 million Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital and Pearl Tourville Women’s Pavilion. Located at Calhoun Street and Courtenay Drive, the facility will consist of an 11-story bed tower, six-story diagnostic and treatment building, and will house approximately 250 patient beds.
Services will include a neonatal intensive care unit, pediatric intensive care unit, labor and delivery unit, special care nursery and specialized children’s emergency services. Since breaking ground in August 2016, the team has driven 1,304 piles, poured over 10,000 cubic-yards of concrete and hung 5,059 pieces of steel – all ahead of schedule. The new facility is scheduled to open in 2019 to serve the Low Country Region and South Carolina.
